New Year!

Here we are; Christmas 2012 is complete and we are now heading into 2013!

Hopefully we can avoid the impending "fiscal cliff!"

I have to start thinking entrepreneurially about my life and what I want and how to get it!

HAPPY OBJECTIVE NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

Thank You, Rodney Dangerfield

Flash back to 1981; my parents have purchased Mr. Dangerfield's "No Respect" comedy album.

I overheard my father telling my mother the content might be "inappropriate for Louise;" of course the result of that was the record playing on the turntable the moment the two of them left the house.

Most fifteen year olds are immature and I was definitely no exception!

Anyhow, I remember one passage very well, "Love your neighbor as yourself; WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO JERK HIM OFF, TOO?"

Ha ha ha, that one certainly got a result from the audience and from yours truly!

All joking aside, what I have learned from Objectivism is that is not possible to "love your neighbor as yourself."

The reasoning is that all human beings, including one's neighbor, must use his or her noodle-strudle, aka reasoning power, to determine his or her goals towards lifetime satisfaction and happiness; one cannot love one's neighbor as yourself since one does not possess the ability to read the mind of another person and thus determine what he or she wants.

After one establishes one goals, the next step is to use one's noodle to determine the most efficient and effective course of action to achieve those goals.

Of course one must ensure that one's methods do not interfere with the life and satisfaction goals of "your neighbor."

So...everyone person out there should be responsible for his or her masturbation activity, how the hell can you possible know how your neighbor likes his or her genitals stimulated?

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

I spent most of last weekend at a hotel party in the northwest suburbs.

The Christmas tree in the lobby was beautiful and I stole a copy of the Bible from my room.

Anyhow, despite our comparatively mild weather the holiday season is now upon Chicagoland!

And speaking of Christmas there is the "Scrooge issue."

At the story's end Ebenezer Scrooge may have become a benevolent employer to Robert Crachit but hopefully he still remained a EMPLOYER, expecting Crachit to properly perform his job, etc.

And then there's the scene at the end of the musical "Scrooge" (Albert Finney was the star) in which the title character proceeeds to forgive all of his business loans; hopefully that was just something he decided to do for the holiday and he was back to work in January; after all, if Scrooge essentially gives away his entire livelihood, who is going to employee Crachit and in turn how is Crachit going to support his big family (birth control as we now know it certainly did not exist in 1830s Great Britain and I'm sure that Crachit's wife did not work!)

Ah....life.....

I'm not an "Objectivist..."

...since I don't support complete laissez-faire capitalism.

The personal philosophy is very agreeable to me as an "art of living."

The best thing I ever did....

It was September 2010 and I was forty-four years old.

I had just been diagnosed with stage one endometrial cancer.

There I sat in my oncologist's office; actually in the scheduler's office to determine when I would have surgery.

"This will be the best thing you will ever do!"

I stared at the woman as I did my best mental John Mcenroe (YOU CANNOT  BE SERIOUS.)

I replied, "I understand that is necessary for me to have this surgery but this is not the best thing I will ever do!"

A few days later when I relayed that story to my mother she looked at me and smiled, "Yes honey, this will be the best thing you will ever do since the surgery will save you life."

THINK

What should each human being do every day of his or her life?

THINK!

The human race conquered the planet earth and all other living beings by the individual use of the human brain.

ONE SAD NOTE:

Now that I have accepted objective reality as my guide I have accepted that the concept of Afterlife does not exist.

My father passed away in 1989; at present I am finally in final mourning for him since I now realize he and I will never again meet.

Nor my grandparents either.

(:

I am also sad about my late pets but I can easily obtain a dog and cat.

I can't go out and adopt another father.

Today is the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving!

And recently at the ripe old age of forty-seven I discovered Objectivism and have adopted it as my personal philosophy!

I was researching the "Objectivist Movement" (political) on the web and I was struck with the following thought: "Hey these people may dislike government programs but they are CONTINUALLY CONSISTENT WITH THE POLITICAL THEORY OF THE DISAPPROVAL OF GOVERNMENT INTRUSION IN PRIVATE LIVES."

NOTHING make my blood boil more than these right wing Republicans who preach the above then work towards censorship and denial of women's reproductive choices!

To make a long story short I have been aware of various "philosophies" throughout my life but have never had much interest.

My long standing attitude was always as follows: "OMG someone else wants to tell everyone else how to live; that is all we need is another finger-wagger saying "you should do this; you should do that; I'm right you're wrong yadda yadda yadda."

Well I have now explored the philosophy as a WAY OF LIVING (the political and economic aspects don't interest me other than another idea).

And for the first time since I was ten years old I no longer view "morality" and "right vs. wrong" as destructive words and concepts; I view them as wholly constuctive.

I now KNOW I can live my life morally and ethically.

I no longer need to feel any sense of shame whatsoever about my human nature and I no longer need to maintain a defensive attitude.

I know now what is RIGHT and what is WRONG!

To take a quote from the Bible:

THE TRUTH HAS SET ME FREE!
