1979's "Sooner Or Later"
A few days ago, I noticed an addition to my YouTube "recommended" feed.
"Sooner Or Later."
Hmm...could this be the late 1970s made-for-TV movie with Denise Miller and Rex Smith?
🤔
Yes, it was!
I did not view it upon release, but I recall that the action depicted a thirteen-year-old girl who "fell hard" for an older teenage boy and subsequently lied about her age in order to date him.
"Jessie is thirteen. And in love for the first time!"
So stated the TV blurb.
I was familiar with Miller due to her work on "Barney Miller" and "Fish"; however, I had never heard of Smith.
Apparently, the movie launched him into instant teen idol status!
So....upon first chance I viewed the movie and very similar to the novelization I reviewed briefly at a 1979 drug store the action began with an eighth-grade sex education class; or at least viewing a humorous film strip depicting bees pollinating flowers!
My good friend Evie had observed the production, and she had told me the girl confessed the truth while in a "compromising situation" at a drive-in movie theater!
😉
The male leading character was seventeen; however, Smith looked rather old for the part. But the fact that he was of fully adult age before becoming a teen idol probably was extremely beneficial.
True to form his teen idol status only lasted a few years but as a talented performer he continued working in fact he received good reviews as Frederick in "Pirates of Penzance."
Like the leading female character, I was also thirteen years old. But I was not at all attractive.
In fact, I was rather pathetic....of course I am pathetic now at age sixty but in a totally different way.
☺️
Here is the link:
Sooner or Later (1979)Ah to be young again.....NOT!!!
😒
There is something else.
My legal name is not "Louise."
I have wished since age twelve it was "Jessica" shortened to either "Jessie' or "Jess."
I don't like my real first name.

Watching Netflix's Version Of Little House On The Prairie!
We shall see how it compares with the TV series and the books!
One difference that is true to life is that during the move to "Indian Country" Carrie is not yet born!
Caroline just got sick so maybe dear Carrie is in utero......

It Is Morning Again....
....And here I am.
After a brutally hot stretch of weather last week it becomes delightfully cool overnight.
Enjoy summers while one can!
It is very difficult to see my mother this way.
She and I share an abounding history.....

Thinking About Forty Years Ago...
My cherry popper summer!
HA HA!
Actually a more accurate description would be my first adult summer....
And here I am still alive and kicking forty years later.
In the words of David Odowd:
"That would be a price I would very willing pay if in exchange he were still alive in forty years time!"
It has been a full forty years and his brother Boy George is still with us!
But is David Odowd still alive?
I will have to find out...
But here I am at a full sixty years old...still stumbling through life.....

Now That We Are On The Theshhold of Summer....
Does it really matter?
It can be beyond nice outside but what is really of consequence is how one feels insides.
It is a common concern....when all is said and done interior feelings mean everytbing,,,,,

Does March Go In Like A Lamb and Go Out Like A Lion?!
Yes, it is March.
As of yet March 2026 has recorded no Chicago area snowstorms!
I am happy as long and nothing goes in and out like a snake....
I try to have a cheerful attitude, but it is hard sometimes.
Keeping busy does help!
I am I am I am'

And So This Is Christmas....
...And what have you done?
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
And what have we done?
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over
If you want it
War is over
Now
Okay it's me again....
The homo sapien world will never be free of "fear."
But today is my mother's eighty-eighth birthday!
And today is the third day of Hanukkah!

The Movie "Hair"
I loved it upon first viewing the spring of 1979 at age thirteen!
And now due to streaming I can view it in my own home with subtitles!
I especially enjoyed the performances of John Savage and Treat Williams; Savage also starred in "The Deer Hunter", another Vietnam War era movie released in the late 1970s.
And as my sister said after viewing the later "National Lampoon's Vacation".....why does Chevy Chase's character bother running after Christie Brinkley when he is married to Beverly Dangelo!

VANDA Productions
Here is where it all started:
Flowers in the Attic - Wikipedia
Big thrills during the summer of 1980--forty-five years ago!
During the mid twenty tens I discovered that Lifetime Network had produced a series of movies through the fourth book "Seeds of Yesterday".
The action of "Seeds" occurred during the summer of 1997; I read it during the summer of 1986, and I vividly recall thinking "I will be in my early thirties then."
I am now in my late fifties!
Time flies....
Then a few years later I saw "Garden of Shadows" in a bookstore and leafed through it enough to reveal a few more "secrets...."
Now I have just learned via my Roku that Lifetime produced a whole series based on "Garden" called:
Flowers in the Attic: The Origin.
And there are other books in the series:
Christopher's Diary: Secrets of Foxworth - Wikipedia
Christopher's Diary: Echoes of Dollanganger - Wikipedia
Christopher's Diary: Secret Brother - Wikipedia
And even a follow up to the Audrina book:
- In an October 2015 interview, Andrew Neiderman (the ghostwriter) announced that he was writing a sequel to My Sweet Audrina, titled Whitefern. This was met with a mostly unfavorable reaction from V. C. Andrews' core fans. The sequel was released by Pocket Books July 26, 2016.

Here I Go Again.....
Last night I experienced horrible nightmares.
Is this part of becoming older?
I certainly hope not.
Getting into fall now....we aren't yet there but we are getting there!
